Those words were the theme for our wedding day. I dreamed, I hoped, that those words would come true for me.

My first year of marriage, those words were a joke.  I never imagined my marital bliss would be such hell on wheels.  But it was.

Learning how to live together was one issue.  Money was another.  Then were challenges with sex, jobs, infertility.

Oy.

Thank God we were willing to change.

For our 18th wedding anniversary, we left our kids at home and went out to dinner.  We had such an open-hearted, joy-filled time.  I love my husband, and he loves me.  Simple, and profound.  Just as it was meant to be.

This is my wish for you:  that you are a friend to your partner, in every sense of that word.  That you share your most cherished dreams, encourage and uplift one another, pause … right in the middle of it all … to look at each other and smile.
